The average rating is misleading as it appears to be based on some older versions of the app. It's short on customizations but it's actually a stable, very clean app that appears to work like it's supposed to. And you really can't beat Scripps for neutrality. Would like to see a future option to set a location for localized news. Also an ability to tailor notifications to specific news categories.

After install it said it was for an older android. It starts up but won't play anything selected just a blank screen and gets stuck there, have to force close it. Looks like Newsy app needs to be updated to catch up to the newer version android. Best to stay with an news app that has an active developer. No sense keeping it installed. It was last updated 4 years ago. What a shame.

Broken. The feed loads fine but if I click on a headine to open and read a story it often closes the app (or sends it to the background). Android 12. I've force quit, cleared cache and data, uninstalled and reinstalled, then rebooted and still the same problem. Used to work great until maybe a month ago. I'd rate it 5 stars if it weren't broken. I like that it requires no permissions.

The live broadcast keeps crashing. It will play for a few seconds then stops and goes back to the general app. Checked all the possible issues and is fine, software up to date , all permissions granted. Disappointed really love Scripps news station. Gonna have to delete the app...will come back to it and check to see if anything has been fixed. Right now it's literally just taking up space I could use for something else.

At first I thought this app didn't work with Chromecast but I realize now the Chromecast icon will show up AFTER commencing playback of an article. I'm very happy to see that, even as a video app, it connects to all my Chromecast Audio devices too which is excellent for listening to Newsy throughout the house. The continuous play doesn't work though so I'm knocking off two stars. Solid news without the gimmicky theatrics and ugly biases makes this a winner.

Newsy is normally a good informative source of news, but I'm forced to give it a 2 star rating because lately it is failing to autoplay properly. It doesn't flow smoothly from item to item... It hangs like its waiting for something. I'm forced to go into settings and force close the app and then reopen it to get it to continue. Please fix this and I'll up my rating to the 5 it deserves to have under normal circumstances..

This app, even upon first installation, states its an older version and to check for an update (this isn't one I can find). After installation, while playing a video, will time itself out and phone goes black. There needs to be an update for this to work correctly. Big fan of Newsy, not so much for this app.

I enjoy watching current events. Typically have Saturday and Sunday off. So I get up and watch the news on those days. I'm not looking for canned "fluff" articles that could be taped months ago, I need real coverage of news and weather on Saturday and Sunday. Thanks newsy for putting out real news video in real time.
