Centering Prayer is a method of silent prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer, prayer in which we experience God's presence within us, closer than breathing, closer than thinking, closer than consciousness itself. This method of prayer is both a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship. Centering Prayer is not meant to replace other kinds of prayer; rather it casts a new light and depth of meaning on them. Centering Prayer is an ancient method of Christian prayer adapted for modern times by Fathers Thomas Keating, William Meninger and Basil Pennington.

It is truly a centering prayer. I appreciate the opening and closing prayer selection categories for Praying, reading Psalms , scriptures and so on. Very simple and easy to navigate through the settings to prepare for meditation. An added feature to be considered would be to include options for short audio files giving brief talks on the fruits of using Centering Prayer. Inspirational, motivational, spiritual talks as well. As a meditator I center myself easier when listening to the prayers.

Once you easily set up this app it handles all aspects of Centering Prayer practice. You could easily run a group with this app alone. It reminds you of the basics. You can chose from among a variety of opening and closing prayers. You chose the sound that opens and closes the practice, and the amount of time. Very, very useful.

Beautiful app. Makes it easy to lead people into centering prayer when we meet as a group. It also encourages the individual to pray ... those days when time is short, being able to adjust the timer to any time ... I like that it doesn't fade out while praying. The choice of prayers is wide ... Thank you! PS. The app could make an accurate and effective timer 😉!!!

I've been practicing for well over a decade, but over the last several months I've had a difficult time just being faithful to the practice. I ed this app thinking that, at the very least, it would keep me sitting for a full 20 minutes. (I'm accustomed to much longer periods.) This app has renewed my practice. I'm faithful to my sit again, and experience fewer distractions. From the sound of the gongs to the prayer selections, new to or experienced, you'll appreciate this app.

Have tried to meditate for years inconsistent and unsuccessful. A friend suggested I try this and it made it simple. I attempted to start at 5 minutes and found myself peeking to see if timer was not working,lol. Start at 1minute.. work gradually. I love choosing my own prayers. I am still inconsistent,buy when I do take time, successful!

Wonderful way to begin the day. I like the choices provided for beginning and ending the time as well as being able to adjust the length of the silence. Easy way to add the discipline of centering prayer. There's even a quick reminder of how to do it before you start. It also has prayer choices for before & after the meditation, as well as musical & sound choices to personalize the experience. This app makes this part of my prayer life easier to add.
